What a FeNO breath test tells us about asthma
A quick, painless breath test that measures airway inflammation.
FeNO — fractional exhaled nitric oxide — is a 60-second breath test that measures a specific type of airway inflammation linked to allergic asthma.
A high result often means inhaled steroids will help; a low result points us elsewhere. Combined with spirometry it takes much of the guesswork out of an asthma diagnosis.
